Jesus Christ is recognized in Christian faith and scripture as the ultimate healer of both physical ailments and spiritual brokenness. The Bible shows Jesus healing large crowds of sick, blind, deaf, and paralyzed people during His earthly ministry. The laying on of hands in the Bible is a symbolic and physical act used for healing, by imparting the Holy Spirit who distributes the spiritual gifts that include healing.
Mark 16:18: "They will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover."
Luke 4:40: "At sunset, all who had people sick with various diseases brought them to him; and he laid his hands on every one of them and healed them.“
Acts 28:8: "The father of Publius was sick in bed, suffering from fever and dysentery. Paul went in to see him, and after praying and placing his hands on him, he healed him."
Jesus is still healing people supernaturally today through forgiveness of sins, prayer and the laying on of hands. Therefore, He is the healer through the power of the Holy Spirit. The believer in Jesus Christ who lays his hand on the sick is the vessel chosen to deliver the healing, sometimes immediately and other times over time.
However, the healing transpires, it is always a very intimate and personal transaction between Jesus and the person wanting healing. Spirit to Spirit.
